The Cal men's and women's tennis teams head into the most important events of their fall season this weekend.

The men's team will send Balazs Veress and Conor Niland to the main draw of the ITA All-American Championships in Chattanooga, TN.

Robert Kowalczyk was one step away from qualifying for the main draw before losing to Nic Boeker of Georgia yesterday, 6-2, 7-5.

Kowalczyk will get another chance tomorrow, teaming with Veress as the No. 6 seed in the doubles draw. They will face Oliver Levant and Eleazar Magallan of Florida in the first round.

No. 71 Veress plays Mark Dietrich of Tennesse in the first round of the men's open singles. No. 82 Niland will also take on Dustin Taylor of Tulsa today.

Cal will also have two singles players and one doubles team in the main draw of the women's All-Americans, which begin tomorrow in Los Angeles.

Raquel Kops-Jones competes against Jessica Roland of Texas A&M in the first round of the women's main draw today.

Catherine Lynch will join Kops-Jones after making it through the qualifying draw.

Kops-Jones and Christina Fusano got through the qualifying rounds and face Kentucky's Sarah Witten and Nathalie Roels.
