Our World Changed: A Time to Reflect

A year ago today, time stopped. All at once, we felt shock, horror and fear. A torrent of questions overwhelmed us: How could this have happened? Will we go to war? What exactly have we woken up to today?

In Berkeley, for a moment, the campus and community united in their grief. But Sept. 11 also highlighted tensions over war, hate crimes, the monitoring of international students, concerns about freedom and privacy versus national security, and questions about America's role in the world.

We've changed since Sept. 11. But by how much?
