The Alameda County Coroner's office confirmed yesterday that the person known widely to students as the "God Bless You Man" is not Dwight Leeray, the homeless man who died late last month after an alleged assault that took place on Southside.

The God Bless You Man, known for blessing passersby and wishing students good luck on their midterms, went by the name Dwight Bradford, said Andrew Podolski, a UC Berkeley student who did a photo journalism project about the homeless man last semester. Bradford was also featured in an edition of The Onyx Express and visited students in the Unit 3 Residence Hall last semester.

The Daily Californian reported yesterday on a memorial, organized Wednesday by UC Berkeley students and attended by roughly 50 people in honor of the God Bless You Man, who they believed was Leeray. In the article, The Daily Cal erroneously reported the man to be Leeray.

Although the man's current whereabouts remain unknown, a Dwight Bradford has checked in and out of Highland Hospital in Oakland during the last two months, said Shelly Hardy, a clerk at the hospital. She said Bradford was admitted three days ago and has been discharged.
