Junior forward Austin Ripmaster picked the best time to score his first goal of the season. Coming off a six-game road trip and in the midst of 275-minute scoreless streak, the Cal soccer team was facing then-No. 7 UCLA at Edwards Stadium Friday.

For the first 84:59 of the game, the two teams were scoreless. Ripmaster made sure, however, that Cal would not leave the field disappointed for an eighth straight game. Receiving a pass from Chris Roner, Ripmaster deposited a 12-yard blast inside the far post of the Bruins' goal.

The game-winner was only the Bears' second goal in conference play and fourth in the second half. Ripmaster also tied for the team lead in shots with three.

The Boulder, Colo., native followed up his strong effort against the Bruins with another one against St. Mary's. The forward posted another four shots on goal against the Gaels.

This season, Ripmaster has started in 13 of the Bears' 14 games and ranks fourth on the team in shots (13) and points (2) and is tied for third on the team in goals.
