Both the Cal men's and women's track and field teams finished eighth at the Pac-10 Championships this weekend at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. with 68 and 56 points, respectively.

The UCLA women claimed their fourth consecutive conference title with 167.5 points and the USC men walked away with a back-to-back title after earning 154 points.

The women's team improved on last season's ninth place finish and 41 point total. Although the men's squad also improved on last year's 59.5 points, the Bears finished eighth for the fourth-consecutive year in a row.

Junior transfer Missy Vanek led Cal with 19 points earned in a first place heptathlon finish, a third place finish in the high jump and a sixth place finish in her team's 400 meter relay. Joining Vanek on the medal stand was sophomore Erin Belger, who finished third in the 800 with a time of 2:07.66.

On the men's side, senior Bevan Hart led the Bears with 16 points overall, including a first place finish in the pole vault.
