Only in Berkeley

Sighted: Local bicycle activist Jason Meggs riding down Bancroft Way. Attached to the trailer he was towing behind his bicycle: a City of Berkeley parking meter.

And scattered among all those bright-eyed campaigners was a candidate of a different sort: Lyndon LaRouche, a U.S. presidential hopeful. His workers look a little stunned by all the company on Upper Sproul Plaza.

As usual, Squelch! sent a few ASUC candidates down the campaign trail this year. Notable was their Executive VP hopeful, who talked to his pinata donkey throughout an elections forum.

Erstwhile on the ASUC front, Arian "Is Not" White, when asked to list his campaign expenditures, included "an eighth to get me through the election."

Will they never run out of funny names for ASUC political parties? Shireen Brueggeman of the Naked Butt Party promises "no hairy situations," and that "every naked butt will have a seat." Still wondering what "much, much more" means.

In a rare public appearance, Woodstock host and activist Wavy Gravy showed up at a People's Park rally. Wearing his signature psychedelic clown suit, he urged students to keep the situation from getting "really gnarly."

Just asking: Which basketball superstars' water balloon frenzy took a different turn when they messed with members of the women's water polo squad? Those water pistols sure must have felt good after the team banquet.
