In his mugshot, Chad Bunting looks perfectly stoic, cracking not even a hint of a smile. You can bet the junior center fielder didn't look like that after hitting two home runs and driving in seven on Friday afternoon.

Bunting stole the show offensively, but righty Kevin Miller also did work in the No. 17 Cal baseball team's 17-0 romp over Coastal Carolina in the first game of the Caraville Resorts Baseball at the Beach tournament.

Miller, in his first start of the year, pitched 7 1/3 innings of one-hit ball, striking out 10 Chanticleers in the process. No Coastal Carolina player advanced past second base.

On the other hand, the Bears pranced through their afternoon. They broke open the game with five singles and a Bunting three-run homer in the third inning. Cal added three more in the fifth, one in the seventh, five in the eighth and two in the ninth. As a team, they hit a combined .409.

The Bears play North Carolina State tomorrow at 9 a.m. PT, and round out the weekend with a Sunday tilt against Kansas State at 8 a.m.
