Sept. 14 - Sept. 16, 2010

The UC Board of Regents will convene for a three-day meeting at UC San Francisco's Mission Bay campus next Tuesday to discuss topics ranging from diversity at the UC's 10 campuses to the state of the system's pension program, which a recent report stated is on the road to financial insolvency.

- The Committee on Grounds and Buildings will begin the meeting Tuesday afternoon, deciding whether to approve UC Santa Barbara's long-range development plan and certify its accompanying Environmental Impact Report.

- The next day, the Committee on Educational Policy will meet to consider an amendment to the university's diversity statement, which outlines the UC's stance on issues including equal opportunity and the diversity of its students, staff and faculty.

- The Committee on Finance will update the budget for the 2010-11 fiscal year and continue to develop the 2011-12 budget.

- Issues concerning the university's diversity as well as its graduate students will be on the table when the Committee on Long-Range Planning and Educational Policy meet to discuss accountability reports on each subject Wednesday. An overarching accountability report was presented to the board in May.

- The Committee on the Oversight of the U.S. Department of Energy Laboratories will vote to modify the university's contract with the department to operate the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, following changes to federal acquisition regulations.

- On Thursday, the committees on finance and compensation will discuss the financial status of the University of California Retirement Plan and will then vote on an action item to alter contribution rates beginning July 1, 2011 and July 1, 2012.
