ASUC President-elect Noah Stern will face Attorney General Kevin Gibson before the Judicial Council on charges of elections bylaw violations this morning.

In three separate charge sheets filed with the council, Gibson alleged that Stern violated the bylaws by interfering with the "proper tallying of votes," seeking extra votes, voting twice, campaigning in residence halls and sending unsolicited campaign e-mails to students.

Student Action party chair Meghana Dhar is representing Stern at the hearing.

According to the council's rules of procedure, each side is allotted 12 minutes to present evidence, testimony and oral arguments. Both sides then get 10 minutes of cross-examination. However, the rules also state that the times may be modified by the chair.

During the hearing, members of the council have the power to question participants themselves.

Two members of the council-Daniel Mangels and Adam Schlesinger-are members of the Delta Chi fraternity, of which Stern is also a member.

Mangels and Schlesinger could not be reached for comment Tuesday evening.

Council Chair Kiira Johal said in a text message on Tuesday evening that only Associate Justice Tamar Thomassian would be absent from the hearing due to a scheduling conflict.
