Police are investigating a hit and run in Berkeley Wednesday night that left a victim in serious condition.

Officers responded at 9:25 p.m. to reports of a man down near the intersection of Adeline and Harmon Streets, said Berkeley Police officer Andrew Frankel.

"Officers got to the scene and deduced that the man down was a victim of the hit and run," he said.

Because of the severity of his wounds, the victim was taken to Highland General Hospital in Oakland, Frankel said.

He said police did not have an update on the victim's condition as of this morning.

The suspect vehicle is described as being a Buick from the 1990s, possibly a Park Avenue model, with greenish-blue paint and large chrome wheel rims, according to Frankel.

He said no suspects have been identified and no arrests have been made in connection with the incident.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is encouraged to call Berkeley police at (510) 981-5980.
