The good news for fans of the Cal women's basketball team is that 11 letterwinners, including four starters, return to Haas Pavilion this season.

The bad news is that those players only won seven games a year ago.

The 2002-03 Bears will begin the road to improvement with an exhibition game tonight at 7 p.m. against the women of Team Concept.

Cal head coach Caren Horstmeyer will not be in attendance for her team's first steps. She is home with her new daughter who was born Monday.

The Bears will be led by guard Latasha O'Keith, who averaged nearly 10 points a game last season. Sophomores Kristin Iwanaga and Leigh Gregory will also get the start, likely alongside defensive stopper Amber White.

The center position is open with the graduation of team MVP Ami Forney. One of the Bears' foreign legion will have to fill in, likely junior college transfer Timea Ivanyi.
