After one of the deepest postseason runs from arguably one of the best teams in program history, the Cal men's soccer team saw five of its seniors drafted in the Major League Soccer SuperDraft today.
A.J. Soares, Demitrius Omphroy, Servando Carrasco, Hector Jimenez and Davis Paul were all selected in what marked the Bears' most successful number of draftees.
Soares, who was named the Pac-10 Player of the Year and NSCAA first-team All-American, was among only four seniors to sign ahead of both the MLS Combine and the SuperDraft. The Solana Beach, Calif., native's sixth overall selection to the New England Revolution put him at the highest selection Cal has seen a player go.
Omphroy, picked 26th, will join former Bear Stefan Frei at the Toronto FC and Paul will also join a former player, Calen Carr, at the Chicago Fire as the 51st selection.
Carrasco went No. 27 overall to the Seattle Sounders and Jimenez went No. 34 overall to the Los Angeles Galaxy.
