Two Berkeley High School safety officers were injured Monday afternoon while breaking up a fight between six females, three of whom were students at the high school.
At least three campus officers responded to the incident, which took place at about 12:42 p.m., and two were injured in the process, according to Berkeley Police Department Officer Jamie Perkins.
"The school resource officers went over there to break up the fight and during the course of trying to break the fight up, two of the school resource officers were hit, (one of whom) sustained a laceration to his lip," Perkins said.
Berkeley police received a call at 12:57 p.m. and responded to the scene at 1:09 p.m. after the fight was over, according to Perkins.
Perkins said the Berkeley police officer assigned to the high school was not on campus Monday.
Perkins added that she did not believe any of those involved in the incident were transported to a hospital.
